First of all, if you are reading this, then it is likely that you or someone you know has the experience of meeting cancer. I am truly sorry if this is the case. It’s not an easy challenge. But, I do believe in miracles. I also believe that the type of care you choose is a very personal decision.

I’m not going to spout out statistics or list all the options available to you. There are plenty of sources for that. What I can tell you is that I have had one biological dad and two step-dads all pass on due to cancer (throat, lymphoma, brain). Two were looked after at home right up to the day they died. Other close family and friends have also come face to face with the Big C. Some are in long-term remission and others have passed on. Each person’s journey is different.

When people face great challenges in their life, I think of the strength of the human spirit, which goes beyond the physical body and reminds me of the words from a love scene in the movie Avatar – “I see you.”

If you need another layer of support to get through this difficult time, please contact me.

If you haven't already read Dr. Bruce Lipton's book, The Biology of Belief, I encourage you to check it out.   Dr. Lipton's medical research, specialized in cellular function, supports the view that genes are not destiny.  Instead, genes are activated by the environment and perceptions can override genetics.  In what he calls new biology and epi-genetics (above genetics), Dr. Lipton offers us hope for healing our bodies.  If the mind controls the behaviour of cells in the body, then you can change your health by changing your thoughts, emotions, and beliefs.  Dr. Lipton challenges Darwin's theory about survival of the fittest when he says, "Once we deal with our powerfully creative subconscious mind - we are NOT stuck with our genes or our self-defeating behaviours."  Our fates are not determined by our genes.  Rather, life is about survival of the most loving.  It is true that we should reduce stress for greater peace and gratitude.  However, we should also seek more joy and self-fulfillment to stimulate positive growth in our bodies and mind.  Love yourself more and you will see a ripple effect in all areas of your life.
